21 Oct LUXURY FASHION CAN ALSO BE SUSTAINABLE

Luxury brands such as Gucci, Versace and Burberry were most likely not associated with sustainability for a long time. Here you can find out why this could change soon.
A study by the Shelton Group has proven it. Millenials want to buy from sustainable companies. Some luxury fashion manufacturers seem to have already internalized this. Here you can find out what they are:
Vivianne Westwood
The British fashion label should be mentioned here first. As early as no other label in the high fashion sector, Vivienne Westwood attached importance to working ecologically sustainable. Among other things, electricity from fossil fuels is not used in the entire production process. And that’s not all. Vivienne Westwood is making progress and has already convinced other companies in the fashion industry to join her campaign.

Stella McCartney
Since 2001, the luxury model label Stella McCartney has completely dispensed with animal products. And they too have joined Vivienne Westwood’s campaign and want to focus only on renewable energies by 2020. That also seems to be good for their image. At the international fashion and sustainability event State of Fashion, Stella McCartney and Vivienne Westwood are presented as sustainability pioneers in an exhibition.

Gucci
Gucci has also made initial attempts to offer more sustainable products. One example is a 100% traceable handbag collection in collaboration with sustainability lawyer Livia Firth. Since 2010, sustainability has also been a priority for the packaging. They are made of FSC-certified paper and are therefore completely recyclable. Gucci Equilibrium also shows that Gucci is serious. This initiative allows employees to devote one percent of their working time to volunteer work.

Luxury fashion labels are known for setting trends. It is therefore an even more important sign that such influential labels are betting on a sustainable future. We hope that this is not enough and that in the future sustainable fashion can be admired on even more catwalks around the world.
