Today here, tomorrow there – Munich’s most beautiful routes for walking

youDRESSED Redaktion

Through Corona, some people learn to appreciate the little things in life again. That includes walks. Fresh air, beautiful surroundings and a change from sitting around all day. If you live in Munich, we’ll show you today that you don’t even have to go far.

Would you rather go to a beautiful botanical garden or take a walk by the water? Both is no problem in Munich. The city is more diverse than you might think.

1. The Cental Park of Munich

One of the classics in Munich is probably the English Garden. So why not walk from the Odeonsplatz towards the Hofgarten and then into the English Garden.  Depending on how fit you are, you can walk to the Seehaus or straight to the Aumeister. After all, you need goals in life.

2. From Architectural Splendour to Plant Wow

If you like to be inspired by grand buildings and the power of nature, you should check out this route. We start at the Nymphenburg Palace. The beautiful palace garden alone is a feast for the eyes. If that’s not enough, simply turn right into the Botanical Garden. You’ll have to pay an entrance fee, but it’s worth every penny.

3. Disney in Munich

From the north to the south. In Untergiesing there is the Templer-Monastery whose architecture is reminiscent of a small Disney castle.  A suitable route could look like this: Start at the little houses in the Sommerstraße, continue to the Auer Mühlbach past the Isar meadows and into the rose garden. At your last stop, the little monastery awaits you. By the way, nuns and monks live here and distribute free food to the needy.

4. From one Lake to the next

Another park worth a walk is the Westpark. There are two lakes. The practical thing is that they are on opposite sides of the park. So you can simply walk from Mollsee to Westsee. A nine-metre-high Thai sala awaits you at the Westsee. The Rose Garden is also close by.

So dress warmly, the city is just waiting to be explored by you!
