In addition to the EQA and the EQC, Mercedes is also planning a luxury electric car that will bear the abbreviation EQS from 2020. The car will be the top model of the EQ series, not an electrified version of the existing S-Class. You can find the latest facts here.
„We will have an electric car that is undoubtedly on the level of an S-Class, but it will not be an S-Class“, says Michael Kelz, Chief Developer of the EQC Series.
The Mercedes EQS is based on the brand’s modular electric platform (MEA), which will also support the other two models EQA and EQC. The latter is the first model of the EQ series and will be on the market as early as 2019. It will have a range of up to 500 kilometres and should cost around 70,000 euros. EQS is scheduled for 2020.
In terms of equipment and comfort, the EQS is on a par with the S and E-Class as a luxury model. According to Kelz, the first concepts for the appearance and equipment of the upcoming luxury electric car are already available. At the beginning of the year, the Mercedes Group announced that the production of the electric cars is scheduled to start in 2019. Daimler will invest more than 10 billion euros in electro mobility by 2022. By this time, all Mercedes vehicles will have been electrified. We are curious about what will come in the future.
