The editor in chief of the US Vogue, Anna Wintour, is not really known to be a sneaker-lover. Despite the impression, the globally known fashion icon has paired up with the sneaker brand Nike and designed two pairs of sneakers for their Air Jordan series.

Everybody who knows their way in the fashion world knows that sneakers have been the new handbags since last year. More and more luxury fashion houses pick up the streetwear trend – whether Gucci or Balenciaga, the luxury fashion labels adapt to the younger style. On the runway, the sneakers are paired with finest haute couture or with the more relaxed style of the millennials, who the new sneaker trend want to appeal to. When it comes to sneakers, everything is possible.

ANNA WINTOUR IS IN FOR THE SNEAKER HYPE

If you know the fashion icon, you know that her style is very different to street style and sneakers. Yet, due to the persistent trend and Anna Wintour’s love for sports (she has a passion for playing tennis) Nike could persuade her for the collaboration. Anna Wintour designed two different shoes for the Air Jordan series: The “AJI ZIP AWOK”” is an Air Jordan 1 Retro model, made from soft leather and with a zipper. The eye catcher is the Nike-Air-tag which says “Edited by Vogue” as well as Wintour’s quality seal “AWOK” (“Anna Wintour Ok”), which she also puts on the approved pages of Vogue. The shoes come in red and white and are available from July 21st on in North America.

The second shoe “AJIII SE AWOK” is Wintour’s take on the Air Jordan 3 SE model. The tweet details, which are characteristic for Wintour, are especially noticeable, along with the “AWOK” seal. The shoes are available from September 7th in black and red. There is no information about the price yet, as well as to when the shoes comes to Europe.
