Stress at work, short nights, and leisure activities and sports can hardly be reconciled, so every one of us should take a short break now and then. Especially the cold season is perfect for a relaxing wellness weekend. youDRESSED takes you to the most extravagant luxury spas around the world.

A short trip to Barcelona is exhausting? Not if you spend your time at Hotel Arts. The tallest building in Spain runs the “Six Senses Spa”, and those who relax here can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view. On the 44th floor of the glass tower, there is a rooftop spa with an excellent view over the city and the Spanish coast. And of course, there are plenty of wellness offerings. In addition to a sauna, a hammam, a hydrotherapy pool and an ice fountain, it offers luxurious treatments such as an innovative body scrub with diamond dust. In the evening, Enoteca Paco Pérez, a restaurant with two Michelin stars, serves fresh fish and excellent wine.

Luxury is given a new meaning at the Soneva Kiri Resort in Thailand. Those who stay here will be picked up by private plane and have a personal butler for their concerns. This high-quality hotel not only offers an exceptional dinner in a bamboo bowl, but also has a comprehensive wellness program with open-air wax massages at the beach, as well as yoga and meditation classes.

You don’t have to travel far distances to find a luxury spa. In the Tannheimer Valley in Tyrol, the hotel Jungbrunn is located. There are several reasons why the hotel won the 2014 “Wellness Aphrodite” – also known as the Oscar of Spas. The spa temple features a brine grotto, an infrared cave, a sauna, a 3D sauna with mountain panorama and a whirlpool with magnesium brine. The alpine lifestyle hotel is named after the spring that flows under the building, and that is stylishly integrated into the spa’s relaxation room with the help of a glass tube. In addition, it feeds the panoramic natural pool where you can cool off after a dip in the outdoor Jacuzzi whilst enjoying the view on the mountains.

Desert and water do not match? Yes, they do! In Amangiri, Utah, you can find a real spa temple. In the middle of the canyons, there is a hotel which aims to reflect the healing traditions of the Navajo culture through the four elements of earth, wind, fire and water. Whether massages, scrubs, wraps or flotation therapies, here you will find everything you need for optimal relaxation – and more.
