Sunshine in Munich – hopefully we can enjoy it more often in the next months. Luckily there are some nice bike paths that lead from Munich directly to one of the many lakes in the Munich area. We present you favourite lakes.
It has not yet been decided whether and how we can travel this summer. But that shouldn’t stop us from going on excursions and adventures in our own surroundings. Especially Munich is spoiled with beautiful nature very close to the city. So that you can enjoy the absolute nature experience in a day trip, we present you our favorite bike tours, which take you from Munich directly to the most beautiful lakes in the surrounding area.
Wörthsee
Sun, beach and palm trees draw us every year to the south for a holiday. Even if palm trees at Lake Wörthsee would hardly survive the Bavarian winter, Lake Wörthsee has a bit of the Mediterranean. The turquoise-coloured water makes sure of that. Especially for those of you who tend to go to the whirlpool rather than the ice bath, the lake should be just right. It is known for its pleasant water temperature. The many long jetties also invite you to jump directly into the deep water.
Directions: It takes about 2.5 hours by bike from Munich. If you don’t want to cycle back after the refreshment in the lake, you can simply take the S-Bahn (S8) back to Munich.
Starnberger See
The Starnberger See is probably one of the most famous in the Munich area. But also one of the most beautiful. The lake is especially suitable for those of you who don’t just want to lie on the beach. Because on and around the lake there is a lot to experience. We recommend a drink with lake view in the Nordbad Tutzing and a trip with the wooden boat to the Roseninsel.
Directions:The most beautiful route by bike to Starnberg leads through the Würmthal. You should allow yourself about 2 hours for the 30 kilometres through the countryside. And also here applies: If you only want to cycle one way, you can take the S-Bahn back.
