Say bye to headaches and cheap sweet mulled wine! We show you the best hot drinks for the pre-Christmas season!
Whether with apples, cinnamon, ginger, orange or with gin, or would you prefer a white mulled wine? There are so many different variations of mulled wine and yet we always drink the classic one, which is too sweet for most of us after at least two cups and which we can’t even smell at Christmas anymore. We show you how to spice up your mulled wine and which other Christmas drinks there are.
1. The home-made mulled wine

Cosiness at home? This year some of you will probably drink the mulled wine at home. We show you the perfect home-made mulled wine.
- 1 liter red wine, dry
- 50 ml rum
- 2 oranges, sliced
- 2 oranges, squeezed
- 7 cloves
- 2 sticks of cinnamon
- some star anise
- 3-5 tablespoons braun sugar
Put all ingredients except rum and sugar in a pot and simmer on a low heat, but do not let it boil! Then add the rum and sugar, stir and heat up again briefly.
Strain the spices and orange slices and serve the mulled wine !
If you like, you can also add vanilla pods, ginger, nutmeg or juniper berries.
2. The white one

Those who actually prefer to drink white wine do not have to torture themselves with red wine during the Christmas season, but can simply make themselves a white mulled wine. We show you how to do that!
- a bottle of white wine, we recommend Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc or Pinot Grigio.
- 500 ml naturally cloudy apple juice
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 pieces star anise
- peel of one orange
- 3 tablespoons of honey
Put everything together in a pot and let it get warm. After about 10 minutes remove from the heat, stir in the honey and enjoy!
3. The mulled gin

You want a noble self-mixed Christmas drink without wine? Then the mulled gin is exactly the right thing !
- 2cl Gin
- 1 piece of ginger
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 5 cloves
- 200 ml naturally cloudy apple juice
- peel of an orange
With these delicious hot drinks the pre-Christmas season can start!
