From July 2nd to 5th 2018, the MBFW Spring/Summer 2019 took place at ewerk in Berlin. It was the second event in the new format. The Dutch designer duo Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh started the event. But also three young talents from Germany got the chance to present their collections. We’ll tell you more about it.

After the successful pre-opening by Guido Maria Kretschmer on Monday evening, three up-and-coming talents from Germany showed their collections alongside renowned designers such as Riani. The Berlin Senate and the MBFW have been working together here since 2008 to promote Berlin designers. And as you can see, they’re very successful.

“We are consistently concentrating on supporting fashion in German-speaking countries and are creating the perfect show platform for designers and brands with the MBFW”, says Katja Ohly-Nauber, Head of Marketing Communication of Mercedes-Benz Cars Germany.

ewerk reopened to the public following the motto “FOLLOW MBFW – LIBERATE FASHION”. All shows were transmitted via LED screen to the forecourt, so that all interested trade fair visitors could be there live. There was also plenty of entertainment between the shows: Fashion films, interviews with designers and making-of sequences ensured that a varied fashion program ran throughout the day.

In addition, daily public yoga classes took place and the food market “The Good Local” left no one hungry.

MERCEDES-BENZ PRESENTS BOTTER

Mercedes-Benz’s own IDEP (International Designer Exchange Program) program for promoting young designers enabled the Dutch label BOTTER to make an appearance this season. With their award-winning collection “Fish or Fight” the designer duo Rushemy Botter and Lisi Herrebrugh also convinced the jury of the most recent Hyères Festival. “Fish or Fight” is a tribute to the beauty and ambivalence of the Caribbean, where Botter and Herrebrugh have their roots. The models carry inflatable fish on their heads and colorful fishing nets over the elaborately constructed cuts. The fashion is colorful, elegant and at the same time casual while surprising with unusual cuts and ironic details. In Berlin, BOTTER presented a mixture of the highlights of “Fish or Fight” and its new Spring/Summer 2019 collection.

We are curious what will be waiting for us at the next MBFW.
